03 1.2 16v Head Gasket

hiya

My girlfriend has a 1.2 16v 03 Clio which has covered just over 12.000 miles from new and the head gasket has blown....it has been in the garage since Saturday and still aint sorted it and they are waiting on parts.

what i want to know is this a known fault on the Clio??

Any help would be greatful

how hard did u drive it to do that in 12,000 miles! mine is still the factory head gasket on 120,000 so no its not a common fault as ive never heard of any others going

she only ever drives to and from work (10 miles max a day) and dont drive it hard at all, some times motorway driving, Reanult say its covered so fingers cross!

must have been dodgey from new then, yeah they will sort it under warranty

just been to collect the car and before going in for the keys decided to open the bonnet, took the cap off and its full of mayo!! and the filler neck is also full...... wasnt impressed.. went inside spoke to the manager and he was promised by the mechanic that it had been fully cleaned and had been put back together and new gasket fitted.. after few words about the std s of workman ship they have promised to clean the car up change the oil and filter (which i would of thought should have been done on a job like this) and will be back on the road Saturday at 8 am!!

Cant wait to see what c**p they come up with this time.

I hope all dealers dont treat customers like this

mate thats normal on the 1.2 16V!!!!!!! your headgasket hasn't gone!

Its due to the plastic rocker cover, 100% normal to have the mayo unde the cap

you've just payed for a new headgasket for no reason!

But yes ur right the 1.2s do get a small build up

renault advised her that the gasket was gone when it went in for its service... warrenty will be paying:approve:

Just checked my girlfriend oil and cap and is full of mayo again only one week after having the head gasket changed! she has done 70 miles on the new gasket! Do you think i should go back to Renault and Blow a gasket at them ( no pun intended)

no, as its 100% completley NORMAL on that engine, trust me!

Yep as said above its normal, I get a small bit of mayo under the cap all the time. As long as theres nothing in the coolant then I wouldn't worry.

iv saw this before on my 1.2 16v engine although surely the dealership wouldnt change the gasket based on this alone as if they did theyd probobly be doing quite a few of these!
my old engine on 92k its turns out had a blowing head gasket too pissing oil out the back
