05 182 turns over - but starts intermitently

  cliosport 182 55 reg
Hi to all, sorry if this has been asked previously, but i am stuck & need urgent advice.
my 182 has let me down on starting 3 times this week to the point where it is sat on drive, as i cannot go anywhere for fear of being stranded, as i cannot guarentee it will start again !
my mate has plugged a bosch analyzer in & it never came up with anything except a faulty brake light.
(this was correct & was the plug not in tight - sorted).
however my original problem intermittent starting is still the main issue.
sometimes it starts 3. 4.5 times continouesly, then it might not start at all in 20 - 30 times ? it is so random ?
my mate checked the coil pack with a ht lead & spark plug & said sometimes it does spark & start, then other times (when it willl not start) their is no spark.
i am thinking of buying a coil pack, what do you guys think please ? has anyone had this problem & solved it ?
also which coil pack do i get ? my local dealer has 2 in, one at 49.00 & one at 69.00 ?
is it just brand name or is their another reason for the price difference ?

thanks for your help,
regards
Mark.

Hi Guys, sorry couldn't reply earlier as work work & more work took all my time up, also battery was dead so could not say what happened to red immobiliser light.
however, good news, my mate spoke to renault who also suggested replace crank sensor before going to expense of coil pack.
when i went to collect my sensor 31.55 + vat from local parts dealer he said it is a common fault & he sells plenty of crank sensors !
interestingly he also has spark plugs bosch 7.61 + vat each / (ngk 11.99 + vat each - None in stock though) & Denso (japanese plugs) om promotion at 2.50 + vat each, yes i did say 2.50 + vat each !!! i bought 8 for £24 incl vat. my mate has fitted 4 of them today & our drive out showed they work certainly as good as the NGK's he took out, if not a bit better.needless to say new sensor great. so mucho happy 182 driver back on road :) best wishes to all.
