Sorted out the finance thing then?

Id wait and get a 172 lump fella... Or sell the car/ stop the finance, and get some on a 172 instead.

Nope don't bother with a 1.6 get a 2.0 instead.
Matt Black off here sells all the bits you need for £1.5k.

Yea its all paid up, give them £700 soo paid a month or 2 finance aswell,
the only reason why im asking about a 1.6 is the 2.0 ltr lump is £1500 but then i need 2 get it fitted so another £1500. is the 1.6 that much slower then the 172?

110hp vs 169. The 172 is the better engine not worth doing a 1.6 transplant IMO.

ud be rather foolish to change everything over to only go to a 1.6

do it properly or not at all

1.6 is a lot less powerful than a 172

no problemo so a 172 is the way forward, also im looking at taking the back seats out, will this save much wait or not, also the sandard exhaust sound nice a poppy when you have no back seats.

either sell up and get a 1.6 or get a 172 lump in as already said. Def take the back sets out, found it made a huge diff in mine. Dont think the exhaust will sound any diff, to make a poppy sound you prob need a sports cat/decat

Personally, i don't see the point in dropping in an engine if you can buy the real deal for around the same price. Is that £1.5k including brake and suspension upgrades too?

If i were to blow the time and money on an engine conversion (which i am), it'd have to be something that you can't buy 'off the shelf'

Off the shelf in a phase 2 is expensive first of for easy you need to swop to the phase 1 loom IMO for simplicity and more space as the aftermarket ECU can go sit where the UCh should be.

£1.5k is everything brakes suspension gearbox radiator basically all the wiring looms and front end of the car minus the sheell and subframe since stock subframe is resused.

Well you certainly can't fault the price.

I'm looking at around £2500-3000 i think to S3/TT power my mk2 golf, that's parts only

looked into the 1.6 16v for my car, after reading all that was involoved and watching videos i decided it just wasnt worth it as it wasnt that much faster to justify the cost/effort required. so im going for a 2.0 16v conversion.

as for the sell up and buy a 172, i could have much MUCH more fun in a fairly standard looking 1.2 with 200bhp than a 172 with all this climate control and xenon stuff! ;)
