1.2 8V (D7F) Won't Start

Soph's clio won't start. Fuel Pump is priming. Had the AA out, and he said the coil pack had no output. So we've replaced that, still won't fire up.

He tested the crank sensor and that was giving an output.

Any Ideas?

It turns over. Immobiliser light now comes on solid when ignition turned on, then goes off. It has stayed flashing before apparently. However, I believe the unknown aftermarket alarm also immobilises the engine, which seems to be working as normal.

Mine was the same though, all lights, radio etc would work, but on trying to start it, the immobiliser would kick in (solid red light) and would refuse to start, changed over the battery and all was good.

Worth a shot. However, just found one key doesn't even have a battery in! No wonder that one did nothing.

Its cranking so it isn't the starter.

If the light is going out after a few seconds then the immobilisor is fine too. If not, Try unlocking and locking the doors a few times, putting the key in and turning the ignition on and off a few times. Pull the key out, lock/unlock the doors, then try it.

without soudning silly, have you tried the fuel cut off switch under the bonnet to make sure its not depressed. My little sister has a 1.2 8v, she went over a pot hole and then the car shortly after cut out and wouldnt start. The fuel cut off switch has gone in.

Her dad cleaned up a load of connections yesterday with no luck. Gone out to it a few minutes ago, and it's fired up. But the problem wasn't solved after all he did yesterday, so it's still technically speaking not sorted.

  R5 GTT EFI Clio.
Either a new battery of a timing sensor, one went on my mums megan, theres a mark on the fly wheel and when it passes the sensor it tells it to do its thing, if this dont work, it wont give a spark, pull one of the leads off and hold it a few mm away from a metal object on the engine, and get someone to turn it over, if you see a spark jumping back and forth, its not the sensor, if it is, get a new sensor, its a common fault with renaults. Just make sure your hand aint near the end of the lead as it will give you a nipping shock!!

Yeh, the megan used to do that, if you start finding its intermitant, replace the timing sensor, its a comon fault - Cheap as chips too.

What caused it to not start in the first place? have you pressed that red button by the battery??

Iv got the crappy 1.2 8v D7F aswell and i had starting problems too. Would start sometimes but other times it wouldnt. I replaced the TDC sensor ( second time the car has had one ) and iv not had a problem since

I took mine out to start with and cleaned it and it did work, but after about a week it started going wrong again so i just replaced it
