1.2 box on a 1.8 16v????

I currently have an v-reg 1.2 8v clio, and have decided to change it with a 1.8 16valve engine from a mk1, does anybody no if the 1.2 box will fit on to the 1.8?? if not anybody no what box to get???

ah, mite have a go at getting the proper box then i think its the jb3??? ill take a trip down the scrappy i think lol.

Dont put a 1.2 box on a 1.8 engine you are just asking for trouble, it will probably blow up , it wont be strong enough to take the power of a 1.8 .
put a 1.8 or 2.0 box on it.

Not sure if your current one will fit, you could fit pretty much any other Mk1 gearbox (from diesels, 1.2/1.4/2.0 etc) or a 172 cup box. Though it might depend on the speedo setup you are using as the Mk1 and 172 cup is different to most 1*2's but not sure about the other Mk2s.

Out of interest - why are you putting a 1.8 16v engine in instead of a 172 enigne? Just seems like a lot of extra work.

putting in a 1.8 16v insted of a 172 cos i got it for 80 quid with ecu, loom, manifold, ect lol, just have to wait and see, pretty sure the box will fit, maybe the ratios will make it faster off the mark???
