1.2 TCE (D4F T) in Clio MK4

  Mazda MX-5 NA
Hi!

Would it be possible (has anyone done this already!) to put the "old" 1.2 TCE from an MK3 Clio in MK4 Clio, if the base of the MK4 Clio is an D4F 73hp?

I will buy an MK4 Grandtour within the next weeks. But not this 1.2 TCE with EDC (holy moly - whats has Renault done there?!??!) or the 0.9 TCE.

So the only option is the 73hp Version, which is very slow, but i like the car itself - my wife has one.

I will buy an whole MK3 for the swap, but: Will it run? :)

Thank you, BR Markus.

You would be much better using the H5F 1.2 TCE 120 since it was available in the mk4 clio, That way all you would need is the engine, box, engine loom and ecu/BCM/keycard id imagine

Hi Martin,

thank you for your response.

Thats exactly the engine, which i don't want :)

I may be 'bit oldschool, but Direct Injection, chain driven, most of the time combined with EDC Transmission - to many NO's.

From my point of view, the D4F (also T) engines are bullet proof like old 1.9 S/TDI's or Mazda's B-series engines.

Have a nice day, Markus.

Its available with a much better 6 speed manual, timing chains are not an issue on them and is natively available to drop into that platform where the D4Ft wasnt and will require a lot more work

Even if this H5F engines are better then i think, i then could buy a whole car, because i have to buy one anyway. :)

I've checked all car sale paltforms. This H5F engine was never sold in austria together with 6-speed manual transmissions.

How about high oil consumption with low-mileage engines?
I've read a lot in other forums regarding this problem too...
