1.2 Throttle Body

Am i going to see much benefit on giving my 1.2 throttle body a clean? The car is now on 106,000 and is a grumpy old cow! Its not very responsive (unlike others) and i always want to improve MPG!
Will cleaning the TB help? And how easy is it to do?

It won't do any harm...

Depending on your year though, it's very awkward to get to the actual TB.

hmm thought that might be the case, its a 2001 mk2ph2, does anyone have any info on getting to it?

if you can see the tb do it, if you cant see it, it means its under the inlet manifold, and its a right TW@T!!!

cleaning them never does any harm and can help with cold starting

Yup. Yours is the awkward one.

It's right underneath a plastic plenum. Right under the back of the engine itself.

For the benefit you'd get, it's not worth it IMO.

Unless it's the actual reason the car's running badly.
