1.2 ticking noise once turned off.

Hi just drove it for like ten minutes stopped and all u can hear once stopped is a ticking noise. Really struggling any ideas thanks

It's a 1.2 16v 51 reg

Any help appreciated

It'll be hot metal cooling, and contracting. Probably

Could be an exhaust heat shield.

Mine did this after I had a new exhaust. I put it down to the metal.

But that wouldn't make a constant tick. Would it. My mate had same problem but his was the lambda sensor was disconnected :/

Ha not normally. It's annoying as just put new battery in it annoying as I can't diagnose source

If it isn't making a noise on a morning it'll be what has been said, mine sometimes makes some noises when the engine is off.

You can't, every car will do this at some point. There's nothing to be worried about mate.

Sounds like its just cooling down, every car does it, and yeah it can be a constant tick for over a minute mine does it for ages

If your really worried put a video up and we can say for sure
