1.4 rt tuning

People out there who own an 1.4 rt, can you help me?

I would like to tune my clio but I dont what to do and where to start. I have been to Hill Power to see that they have various chips and engine mods.

Is there anyone who has had their rt tuned or had engine modifications and what do you suggest?

This advice could be of use to me, i would also like to tune/clip my 1.4 RT, but didnt i hear it has to be injection for you to chip it? or was i mislead?

you CAN chip it, mines single point injection like most 1.4s and mines chipped, its the carb versions you cant, but you can tune them a different way anywayz, and yours might be SPI anywayz

best thing i would do, get yourself an exhaust system, thengo down to hill power and get the induction kit, chip, and de-cat pipe

then let Nick take you for a drive to test the chip, an on the way back you get to drive, and you should definitely feel a difference

id stop there as far as tuning goes really, though you could get the cam package......

make sure your car is well maintained too, regular oil changes, fresh plugs, an make sure you have a fresh dizzi an rotar arm, an that your ignition leads are ok

Mines a 91/92 (no one can decide which, j reg anyway) RT and its a single point injection. So I would think yours is.

Excellent advice, thanks. Im getting the baby lowerd next, ive just sorted myself with the parts, just waiting for the work to be done. Then i plan to tune up the engine. And then the rest of the work on the body/look.

like brun said, those mods are really all thats worthwhile doing to give improve performance, without costing you mega bucks. the 1400 isnt really a beefy engine to start with, so any big gains you might be hoping for will only really be possible with the inclusion of a turbo / supercharger, coming in at big costs.

hillpower do a 1.6 drop-in which will give you a bit more grunt, i think brun is on the look out to drop in a R5 GTT lump (1.4 still), the diff here being its a turbod engine, and it has been tuned so extensively that the work done will lead to a reliable fast motor.
