1.5 dci to 2.0 conversion...

  Renault Clio 1.5 DCI mk2
Read a lot of posts here about a 2.0 engine conversion kit ....now i'm going to ask this : asuming i have a 1.5 dci 80 bhp clio....could i convert it to a 2.0 , with that kit? what problems could i encounter...as oposed to the petrol boys?

the 2.0litre kit you are talking about is the one mattblack can provide, its for petrol models only. to convert a 1.5dci to a 2.0litre petrol would be silly amounts of work, including new fuel tank etc.

really?

i couldnt imagine how it'd take much extra work. As for the fuel tank, how do they differ from petrol to diesel? Not arguing, honestly just curious.

I honestly dont know how they differ, but I know they do. I think its due to the consistency/properties of diesel compare to petrol.

you would have to change all the fuel lines and the pump but you get the pump anyway i think.most diesel tanks aren't much different to petrol tanks though diesels normally have a drain plug for draining water

Is it really cheaper to change engines and all that entails? surely just sell your DCI and buy a sport?

Or put a larger diesel engine in....!

mike's right, i've been looking in to a 172 transplant for my car, and with mattblacks kit and fitting it, its gonna be £3000, if i sell my car and put £3000 towards it i can get a good ph1 172 for that

yeah, i thought fuel lines etc were included with the kit, i'm probably wrong though.

No fuel tank is included but Matt would sell you one with new lines thats not a huge amount of extra work.
Maybe £100 for the extra bits then again you can have the dci tank cleaned so you can use it with petrol since both cars use the same tanks lines and pumps.
Its not realy economical unless you want a project though and do the work yourself.
You can pikc up a Mk1 for under £4k now or a Mk2 for £6k so assuming your cars worth £3k trade in then £1.7k for parts you've got enough to buy a proper 172 ok milage will be higher but its worth more to sell and insurance is easier plus there less haslte.

  172 cup'd extreme
it aint worth it unless you do the work yourself / someone does it for you for mega cheap or your stupid and have loads of cash
