1.6 auto gearbox issues

i just been given a 1.6 auto.

you select drive and its like the clutch is slipping real bad.

so i start pressing buttons, to see what works..

i pressed the hazard lights and the car shot forwards... (the gearbox worked)

i noticed this light wasn't there, but when the gearbox works.. the light is there..

Any ideas how to fix this? or what the problem it is?
