1.6 rsi >track car shopping list??

  E36 M3. 182
Hi, Im dusting the cobwebs off my old rsi, with a view to using it as a track car, having got it running (4 new pencil coils) im looking to start getting it sorted for track use, obviously, first port of call will be a servicing and mot, but after that, im looking to upgrade the brakes to enable them to take the pounding that comes with track work, and upgrade the suspension to stop it bouncing round the circuit!! From looking round here, the mods im going to be looking to do are:-
1-Brembo HC discs
2- DS 2500 pads
3- Braided lines
4- a good bleed with decent brake fluid (any recommendations??)
5- a set of eibach pro's
6- a new set of dampers (any recommendations??)
7 - a spare set of 14inch wheels with decent track rubber on them (any recommendations??)

I think thats about it, have I missed anything, bearing in mind that this is a strictly low budget, entry level type of setup that im aiming for, to enable me to use any tuition i may get in future.... And does anyone know where and for what price I can get the above items???
Cheers,
Steve.

mini-valvers inlet manifold!

to answer number 6 you want koni yellow with eibach pros.

track rubber get R888s. in 14s will be cheap as chips

Haha, had thought of that, but my priority is to sort the handling!! Surprised it hasnt been snapped up yet though!

Buy the whole engine for £1500!!

Brakes wise, the calipers are fro the Williams/valver and IMO aren't upto stopping the MK2. Brembo's from a 406 fit with some 172 discs, like I have on mine and the stopping power/pedal feel is a world apart from the tiny discs and crappy little standard caliper.

haha, fair enough.

yeah I would go :

Eibach Pro
Koni Yellow
Braided Lines
Brembo HC discs
DS2500 pads

Maybe look into upgrading the brakes further, I dont know how easy it is to do, but upgrade to 1*2 brakes? May need to upgrade to 15s if you do that, though that may be a handing benefit anyway due to stiffer side walls.

Wheels I'd look at team dynamics pro-race range as they are light and affordable and look good. Personally love the pro race 2s.

Whoever you buy the brakes from will be able to advise you on fluid, so I think DOT4 is what you want.

I presume you've stripped the car completely already? If not, get it done!

Then speak to mini-valver coz he knows these cars better than me.

DOT 5.1 for track work as it can work upto higher temps than DOT 4 which means less fade.

Haha, dont tempt me!! I did think about the 406 coupe brembos, are they a direct fit? Or do you need to fit spacers/modify brackets to make them fit??

TEMPT! I need some cash :p

I needed 12mm spacers (machined some 15mm's down as I didnt want more track than I could get away with) and 3mm washers to centralise the caliper. Thats with my Pro races though so obviously clearance differs between wheels. 172 brakes will need caliper brackets as the mounting holes are wider apart, thats why I went for the Brembo's!

sound. Im looking for prices for the braking and suspension kit now, might not go down the brembo route if they wont fit under 14's. Im trying to keep this one as basic and cheap as I can get away with, to see how I get on. If the bug bites, ill probably get a quicker car, rather than pour money into this one!!

any ideas where to look for the above kit, there doesnt seem to be much choice of tyres for the stock wheels!!!

its on the stock 14's atm, would 15's , with 50 profile tyres fit without scrubbage if it was on prolines?

yeah Koni yellows are expensive, but tbh you'd have to go to a seriously good coilover setup to beat eibach pro and koni yellow combo.
