1.7 Turbo

All in up and running, its great everyone who said its not worth doing i have to disagree, yeh the r5 will prbly be more tunable but for pound for pound fun (125 quid) its well worth it. the only real problem i had was getting a radiator cause i used a cozzie i/c under the front plate and this prevented using the rsi rad. only running 6psi at the minute next weekend its getting a rover tomcat turbo fitted so the boost wont drop off so quick its even easy to wire up.:D Dave

i got hold of a complete 440 turb striped all the engine and bits out of it then sat down for a few weeks to think about it, one of the most difficult bits is changing the cambelt cover backplate over so the rsi mount fits and allows the cover to still fit. youll need a 16v fuel pump other than that its just bits youd expect like boost hoses and sorting a rad and intercooler to fit. oh yeh and a longer throttle cable (mines of a 19 16v) kept the Rsi gbox the volvo clutch is well upto power increases as this is what is classed as an uprated R5GTT by most shops.

any pics of the intercooler installation, would be most helpful if ya did, cos im gonna be using the same intercooler

very interesting, been thinking about doing a clio turbo, as mate has a mint 3dr 1.2 shell as a good base. But 5 turbo are like hens teeth round my bit, but there are a few possible 440 turbo donor candidates, any pics of the problem areas mate. How she go like, lively?
