hi all. my mates 106 gti on idle is all over the place revs then drops sumtimes goes up to 3000 rev's on its on only doing it in the wet he had pipercross filter on it swaped for standerd and still doing it any 1 any ideas?

little idle valve on the throttle body, about £100 i think! had one on my VTS! held on with 2 torx 20's or philips bits, it depends!

Clean it up first (ISCV) with Carb cleaner, that normally works

after cleaning it out, enlist the help of a hammer if it still doesnt work lol next time its revving high on its own just tap the valve and if the revs die down its definately that! when the chav before me had mine hed put a induction kit on...that soon came off and as it was so dirty thats what caused mine!

air flow sensor in the back of the plenum, usually the cause of most problems.

try changing that.

My BRM has started doing this was down to the throtle cable being pushed out of place when i fited my front strut brace . Just cliped the cable back to the where it should be and its fine now .
