I have a 12" Eclipse sub in a sealed box and am not impressed with the bass lines. Should really have guessed it would be punchy more than long but hey!
Any way - does any one know if this type of sub can be used in a ported box to give it that longer deeper bass note?
how much did you pay for this sub as i was looking to get one, links please! I cant see why it couldnt be used in a ported box but ill leave it to the experts!
I have only ever heard that sub in sealed box and wasnt impressed!
U can put it in a Ported box. Make sure you get the right size box. As with most ported boxes. Will make it less tight. However depending on what amp you are running may sound horse sh*t.
What amp are you using buddy. If you are using a cheap amp then may be why uit doesnt sound the best!
Its loud and clear theres no problems there - have a pro plus 2x340w amp bridged into it. It just doesnt have the long low bass.
I used to have a Kenny tornado 12" in a hoooge ported box running off a Sony XM504 4 channel amp and it sounded awsome, that is until some theiving wnker decided he wanted it more than me!!
I paid £240 for the sub and carpeted box from Pulse (think theyre the only people that can get them to tell you the truth)
Ill give them a try - they make boxes in there so could get it sorted quite easily if its possible.
Ive had an annoying buzz off the smaller Eclipse amp that runs the 6x9s for ages and finally figured out what it was last night so relieved about that.
I had used the output from that to go to the pro-plus one but ended up having to run the rca back and use the second output on the h/u.
Knuckes are now bare after running the wires under the carpet in the dark!!!
you can put any sub in2 a ported enclosure in my experience i find it a lot better to run them in ported boxes! i dont think the sub has to work as hard n it produces much more bass! u need to make sure you get the right volume for the box and the correct port length is imperritive!!! check in your manual for these details or alternatively check with the manufacturer-they will b able to tell you within minutes if they know what they are doing! i called my local pheonix gold distributor to get the dimensions n port sizes n they told me within minutes n i have been back to them numerous times because they know what theyre talking about!
