16v clutch problem

I have just put my engine back in the car and re connected the clutch and it does not seem to be engaging the clutch properly? pedal feels really light and does not pull the cable more than about 5 mm?? not enough to hardly move the fork on the gearbox??

have a look at the auto adjuster on the clutch pedal. the cable might have come out of its guide or the ratchets faulty etc.
