16v oil level gauge

on me 16v the oil level gauge dont work quite right

when i turn the inigtion on it jumps up to bout half way then just goes back down to nothingness has anyone else had this problem if so what did they do bout it?

also on the washer stalk there a little button on the end of it cant quite figger out what it is or does any ideas anyone?

Ok mate, listen up...

The oil level gauge only works for about 30 seconds when you turn the ignition on, then it turns off as it wont give an accurate reading when the oil warms up etc, also sounds like your oil level is low so you best get it topped up!!

The button on the end of the stalk is for the standard alarm, check your owners manual if you want to know more about it!

  williams 2 turbo

the oil gauge, one on the far left, is oil level indicator. as you start up it tells you how much oil youve got but falls after a while as oil is being pumped through the engine. dont worry its normal.

are they mean to stay still on the williams or move up abit wen accerating? mines just at 4bar wen cold but moves a little if u accerate? this normal on these?

the button on the end of the stalk is used to enter the 4 digit immobiliser code(when coding keys in etc)

No mate, if they aint moving summats not right!

I find my oil temp will read about 80-100 and oil pressure from 1-5bar depending how much load im putting on the engine, ideally you want low temp and good pressure ;)

thatys alright just been looking now its at about 4bar wen cold then drops to 1bar wen its warm roughly 60-80 on temp then boot it it goes up nearly 6bar if i really hammer it

Hmm, might have to check mine tomorrow. The temp is normal at just over 100 when warm, and at a cold idle the pressure is about 4bar, which would suggest everthing is ok.

However Im sure its virtually 0 bar when warmed up.
