The image i used is an old one, it has clear fogs and the bump trim inserts are matt black.

Nay, they look like steel wheels without wheel trims! A bit lighter, sort of carbon / graphite colour maybe?

go to halford and look at the spray can called "Ford Graphite grey" i used it on my racing steels and its an ace colour!

how did you colour you inserts?

I can pop front strips out no problem but the side and the rear bumper ones are more tricky, did you colur them on the car either by spraying or brush painting?

i like your thoghts on styling, very nice and subtle and modern,

i would go anthracite

see BenHs 16v for the best use of black paint, looks fantastic yet subtle and stealthy, but it is difficult to see from the pics in the gallery

Lofty, degreased the inserts, spent about an hour masking them on the car, and sprayed them in situ. they look perfect mate, looks like it rolled out the factory like it!

i need to do some new pics, should get my gearbox fitted for next weekend. So will do some then. Ive done bloody loads of cleaning and rebuilding on this thing as some of you may already know. So it would be cool to do some before and after shoots me thinks. The pics above are the weekend i got it, about 5 weeks ago.

Yeah black will look good if you paint the calipers bright red to match the car. Otherwise, they look like wheel trims or something.

it may sound odd, but the fact that at distance or at a glance they look like steels is the attraction, that is stealth IMO, close up it will look super subtle and mean, sooooo much better than "look at me!" bright silver alloys,

it wasnt so long ago that my choice in wheels was the bigger and brigher silver the better, now my views are differnt, antracite, smoked chrome etc all the way

Saw some anthracite wheels on a red rsturbo in stratford yesterday. looked nice.

These were done this morning, just to show the inserts and fogs. Looks much better than the original picture above.

Last picture is of the lump ready to be taken out tommorow.

Definitely anthracite! BTW If anyone out there has ever wondered where the oil filter is, make the most of it while you can see it in the pic!

lofty, there £26 each inc vat from andyspares, either collect or they will deliver them at a small cost.

The thing is about anthracite is deep down, it wants to be black
