17’s on my 1.4 RT

hi ne one help me please, i own a mark 1 1.4 RT, and i want to squeeze some 17 inch alloys on it, is this possible?

i will lower it and have sum arch work done, ne indications as to how much i should lower it by if i am gona get 17s, and ne idea how much arch work will need doing??

can i neone recommend any good body shops that can do it around the Leicester area???

any help much appreciated cheers

Well you cant go lower then 40 mm. And there be a bit of work in it. Rear bumper may need a trim, arches rolled, front bumber trimed etc. your best bet it to also fit 16v front arches really as your get mush more clearance. I got 16s but lowered 55mm.

you can get 17s on easy and lower it 40mm i have on mine. you dont need any arch work just take out a few of the sh*t guards. when you lower it you will have bto cut the arch lip off however. easy enough to do your self with an angle grinder {dont forget to use under seal on any bare metal}

ps your car will be slower, and your back seats are useless.

goodluck.

Rob i was wandering what that body kit you got was because your car looks great. Also what is that spoiler and where you got it from as its what ive been looking for, and was it easy to fit??

Cheers Phil

Yes 17s will go on, and YES I have seen one lowered 55mm with them. However it was bye bye to arch liners. Also he had to cut his front bumper to a new shape so it didnt foul the wheels.

And it looked like a skateboard IMHO. A valver on 17s can be slammed due to the fact of it sitting lower than a normal clio anyway, and its more generous arch space. A non-valver just sits too high on the 17s for me. If you hadnt guessed I like low cars

But whatever floats yer boat......
