172 box making a noise when putting into gear when warm

Car  A45 AMG 406BHP
my 172 box is fine when cold
solid box
but when warmer
its starts to make a noise(sometimes) when putting into gear.
like a crunching noise but not so crunchy.

ive got some redline mt-90
sae 75w90

im going to change the oil.
would this be the best way to go?

also the sump plug tool?
is that the same as the gearbox filler tool?

if so can you link me to the right one so i can buy one?

thanks lads

Not sure if the oil change will help, but worth a shot. The sump and box plugs are the same (8mm Square) You can pick 1 up from hellfrauds. As for filling, it's the winged plug on the side of the box. Fill up till it starts to trickle out!

Use Tranself 75-80w. When my box was refurbed they used another off the shelf oil of same grade, but changed last week and has made a massive difference to the box when at running temperature, A lot smoother. That's just my ten pence although it may not solve your crunching problem

its not a crunching.
but it makes a weird sound when going into gear now and then(when warm)

Tranself 75-80w 3L of this?

just been on the phone with opie oils
and he seemd to think
70w80 would be ok?

lol
i might just stick my redline in and see how it goes.

can you drain and fill the gearbox up without taking any major off(eg rad/fan etc)
