172 cup question???????

Hi,

I am after abit of advice.
I have previously owned a mk1 172 & am looking at buying a 172 cup
the car i have looked at is an 03 plate & just had mot.
everything about the car was great except when it got to just over 6k rpm it was like it had hit the rev limiter which i know should be about 7.5k from having my mk1
the dealer said he would get it sorted before i purchase the car.
was wondering if anyone else had experienced any such problems with there cars or had any idea how serious the problem is.

Your advice would be greatly appreciated.

dependant on engine temp..............if cold , dont push 2 hard , when warm limit will be right

yeah when cold it should hit the limiter at about 6k 6.5k ish

cheers for that bit of reasurance
was a little worried cos my old 172 uased to hit 7k rmp even when cold. thought there might be somethin a miss
