172 died please help

Yesterday I had someone driving my 172 to test drive it as I was selling it.
The dude drove it up the street and he said he went to put it from neutral to 2nd and the car just died on him but now the car just won't start up. I've tried jumping it, cleaning the cam sensor cleaning the contacts of the relays with no luck.
I can hear the starter clicking so I don't believe it could be that if anyone has any ideas?

Did he still seem interested in the car albeit at a much lower price? Could he have tampered with it?

Check the earth strap from the gearbox to chassis.

Access behind the passenger side archliner.

Does the engine turn over, or does it just click when you turn the key? As already asked, were you with him at the time? Sounds like he could have money shifted it 3rd to 2nd instead of 3rd to 4th!
