172 ECU Location

I just bought a performance ECU chip for my Mk1 172, but am not sure how to fit it! Can anyone tell me the location of the ECU, and how easy it is to replace the standard chip & if the gains are noticeable?

Anti tamper? lol how pathetic I cant see it stopping anyone, I would have thought its there to stop water/crap getting into it. But after reading this I guess its for both.

Id have rather renault spent the money on making the car safer so they cant access the bonnet catch in the footwell, but then that would be sensible!
