172 erratic tickover

my w reg 172 has just started with erratic tickover cold and when warm sits at 2000rpm
any ideas what this could be before i set the foooooooking thing on fire?

Give the throttle body a good clean

Dont know if they have separate ICVs though but give it all a clean it may sort the prob out for you

thanks mate thought it might be that but didnt want to waste an hour cleaning it if there was a simple explination

Check the tdc sensor as well.

Yeah give it a wipe wont do it any harm.
