172 extras

im buying a 51 plate 172 mark II, im just wondering if it will have ESP (switch on and off) cruise control, and cd changer as standard. also how the fcuk do you work the air con, i cant get cold air from it:confused:

also, ive been checked the search facility for info on 172s, it seems that some people say that some 172s (not cup) are faster than others, some have better 0-60 times basically better performance, has anyone experienced a noticably under-powered 172?? area the newer mark IIs better?

sorry about the stupid questions, thanks.

No ESP, no cruise, CD changer should be there if its a UK car. If you cant get cold air out of the air con with the temperature set to MIN and the system on AUTO then the a/c needs re-gassing. Your dealer can do this for about £60.

Power output seems to be random, and is just as likely to be rolling-road error as real-world differences. Mine is one of the better ones on the RR, but my 1/4 mile times are only average (incompetence most likely!)

so there arent serious differences in speed then?

i fecking hope this is a fast one  or ill have to invest in a k-tec turbo conversion (when they release it) ;)

i guess ill only know when i get it.

cheers

Cd changer isnt a standard feature!

It was until 12months ago ;)

Renault decided to remove it and reduce the price of the Clio 172.

There was with my MK2 172 that I used to have. It put out 18bhp at the wheels less than another standard MK2 at the same RR day and 1/4 miled in 15.6 to 16.0 seconds (pathetic) compared to the more powerful MK2 172s time of 14.7 seconds and my MK1 172s time of 14.6 seconds.

Just to set you off worrying... ;)

Some 172s do go a bit better than others depends how they have been treated, I have driven a fair few and I can say that the ones driven like grannys tend to be not so responsive, but then others driven how they should be driven up in the high rev range go rather well. But generally they all go pretty well watch out for rattly engines and bearing noises at idle from the accessory belt side of the engine.

A little tip when you go and have a look at the 172 is to check to see if it has got an alarm and locking wheel nuts , If it hasnt its gona be an import.
