172 head light problems !

basically the head lights on my dads mk2 172 are rubbish,

they seem to shine up the pavement on the near side & not on to the road,this makes seeing in front of you almost impossible,

we know they are selfadjusting, but this doesnt help us !!

does any one else have/ know of this problem ??

strange you should say that Paul - Ive had my 172 just over a week now and find that the headlights are to low. Mike172sport told me in another message to look for a link between the back axle and a potentiometer - situated on the passenger side just before the back wheel. This is the self adjustment for the xennon lights and you should make sure that it is connected to the axle and not just hanging loose !!

the actual main beam is fine,

its the dipped head light which are sh*te !!

any more ideas ppl???

Yup take it down the Renault Dealer and get them to sort it.

My mk1s lights are poo too....when Im driving along I can see sheep in the fields to my left!......great for going round sharp left turns though, you just look out of the passenger window to see were the road points next!!

My mates MK2 172 has a failed Xenon and it has already been into have the housing replaced.

the headlights should self adjust themselves.sounds like one of the height sensors is faulty or hasnt been set up right.there is still a manual adjuster on the headlight itself even though there self adjusting so the height can be adjusted.let your dealer have a look.
