172 headlights problem

I've just purchased two from ebay and the bulb holders are different.

What is the difference?

I am going to be putting a HID kit into them. So what will i need to make them the same.

top one is a later type. bulb sits in middle, spring hold it in and ignitor clips into the metal surround.

lower one is an earlier type. there is a plastic ring which you use to lock the bulb in and then the ignitor locks to the ring. you can still get the rings from renault . about £11 a piece i think.

Will the hid kit bulbs still work in these two headlights? or would I need to make them the same?
