172 high idle when cold.

Just started my 172 for the first time in a week or so and the idle stayed stubbornly high (1100 to 1200rpm) until it got decently warm. A bit of googling suggests a new temp sensor might be needed. Anything else to check before I start throwing parts at it? Any common places for an air leak?
Are the Lucas temperature sensors any good?

That's pretty normal in cold weather until the engine gets up to temp.

Most cars tend to have a high idle until warm to help the engine get to temp

Mine this morning . Engine stone cold. I always let the engine warm up for a few mins and the revs drop before I drive off.
