172 Lights and what it does to drivers !

Dont know if anyone else notices this -

When driving at normal speeds the cars in front of me tend to stick exactly to the speed limit !

I never noticed it with any of my other cars but they didnt have halogens like my 172 -My friends think this is becuase they show a similar light color to police cars and this is why people slow down when i get behind them!

Has anyone else noticed the effect of the lights from a 172 on cars in front of them?

I also get t**sers getting the hump and slamming their brakes on! becuase they think ive got my main beams on as the lights have one halogen and one normal and this has made some drivers mad thinking ive got my full beams on but i havent and checking with renault the lights are all correct on my 172.

Does anyone else find people driving like pensioners ! when your behind them ?

cheers

Paul

Im not sure about the driving slow bit but i used to get flashed all the time, other drivers thinking ive got my beams on, kinda frustrating but im used to it now :)

Yeah I get that quite a lot as well! It does take getting used to as some motorists are up for some roadrage!!!

had one try to run me off the road !

yeah, they are bright. been blinded many a time by them. that said most new cars now have bloody bright lights.

My partner took me to pick my new car up last Monday. DRiving back I was following her and she said when we got in that I kept flashing her..........but I didnt !!!

Must of been when I was going over bumps etc.........

Anyway our little girl who was in my partners car said that if we cant sort the problem ourselves we will have to call out the Scooby Doo team to sort it !!!!

I love the blue lights personally but havent noticed anybody slowing down in front of me.

Had one tit up my arse the other day, dont know whether he saw the Renaultsport badge as it was dark. I am still running it in so moved over to let him past.............souped up Corsa !!!!!

Hope I meet him again in a few weeks :D

yeah mate i have the exact same thing happen to me, its quite funny when they slow down on a 60 road then i do a 100mph fly-by (on a quiet, safe road with no pedestrians - of course);)

HAHAHA excellent stevo20 ! nice one :D i thought it was just me !

what gambler says is very true also - when you go over any bumps on the road the car in front thinks your flashing them and i think maybe thats why they slow down. ive also got the t**sers in the corsas going close up just becuase they see the sport badge but what is funny when the bmw drivers in their 330ci cant loose you ! i love that !

Swapped the bulbs in my Cup to some Ring 100w "sportzblue" ones- they are just as good as the xenons in the 172s & as near colourwise as Ive found. speaking of 330cis, I seen one off last week- close, but he wasnt passing!!

yeah sound good....

ive been getting flashed by on coming cars?? my beans are on full...

does the half beam still utilize xenon?

i always have my lights on unless it summer or bright. If i wanna get noticed even more (bloody hell everone looks at my car ((172iceberg) and im not joking, cos they do it more in this than when i drive dads c2.7T cdi merc with SE big alloys in black ((it looks great)) then i leave my lights on cos xenons always look cool especially on this car and it make other driver more aware of you if your gonna push on a bit (which i do frequently, as long as its seems safe)

FOGs top it off for looks but poilce get interested when its not too foggy hehe..

I always think xenons are a bit dodgey at juctions, if you hit a rut in the road and the nose dips for a second it can look like a flash and a car could pull out of you - not good!

I think people tend to drive like they have a cop car behind them cos originally cop cars were the only cars allowed lights that bright. Cop cars are now allowed brigther lights still...which is why you can get xenons for normal cars now.

People who drive about with fogs on when its not foggy are anally retarded. Does my head in, its not foggy so dont use them, you look like a muppet and just fit in with all the barry boys whos fitted 50 lights to the front of there car, strapped neons to the bonnet and put a night rider style strope light on the front.

yep me too had some woman yell at me the other day just for having my normal lights on.

PS with you there zedx fogs + no fog = burberry cap

xenons are great for looking at interesting kerb side flora in all their natural colour...or somthing

fogs rock... like a fags c**k

Without wanting to be an anorak, the link to Ice Blue bulbs- the Ice blues are not just as good- I had them before. Go to your local A1 shop, or catalogue, and order up the Sportzblue H7s (? I think) in either 80w or 100w rating. Strictly speaking they are "off road only" use, but Ive yet to be flashed or pulled over. They certainly are not as poor as the "all weather" blue/green Halfords numbers you see folk running about with. Just the right balance between white/blue/brightness.

Its just a law that nothing on the road can have brighter lights than a cop car. About 4 years ago cops wanted brighter lights so there you go everyone could have xenons!

Do you get any problems with using these Sportzblue 80/100W bulbs with regard to the electrics/wiring etc and the headlight lens (are they plastic or glass)?

No probs whatsoever- they are UV-cut bulbs, which means they are classed as suited to cars with plastic lenses. They are the dogs mate, and I have had no probs with the Hawai-50 or other drivers flashing. Pick out road signes & markings just as good as the xenons on my old mans Laguna, and are just as close brightness/colour wise as youll get this side of £600 for an aftermarket kit.

Buy them.
