172 LIGHTS ON MY CUP

hey up everyone i really want the 172 lights on my cup..is it possible? cheers everyone!!! what other things would i have to buy rather than just the light units/bulbs themselves!!!

control unit packs on the back of the lamps, ring and i think phillips do HID/xenon conversion kits for about £500 that fit most cars and youll be able to swap it onto your next car when you sell the cup, have a look at their sites

  Golf 1.4 TSI

need to have the washer jets on xenon lights to pass mot, so i have been led to believe anyway, check it out tho just in case i have been mis informed

xenon lights also have to automatically self adjust to the vehicle height to be legal so that would mean fitting front+rear level sensors and the wiring to headlamp adjustment moters. To put it to renault/172 standard spec you will possibly need-both headlights, ballast computers, height adjustment moters, the main vehicle wiring loom, front+rear height sensors, maybe a uch if it cant be reconfigured(the cup uch may be a lower spec)washer bottle, headlight washers and the pipework.

1 - You never bloody see em when driving

2 - Stanadard lights do the job perfectly well

3 - I think the lights on the cup are pretty white anyway, no?

1 - Yes you bloody do.. the light is 10x better and a nice white colour with a blue fringe.

2 - Until you have used xenons they do.

3 - No. Try xenons then you will see how yellow and dull normal headlights are.

1 - blinds people 10x more coming the other way

2 - standard lights are absolutely without a doubt fine on our roads

3 - i dont give a sh*t

4 - Are you gonna kick me off the site now?!

To get the zenons fitted is about £450~500 I looked into it when I got my car as the lighst arnt excellent you need a control module or something as well as the achual lights. Not sure if you need the washers jets though for them as how would they make them if Id asked for them on my Dynamic?.

Best ides would be to either get some or the performance bulbs from Halfords etc or eles find a crashed 172 and buy the lights and everything lese there connected to and try and make them fit.

_KDF the Cups lights are brilliant and there is no real need for the xenons, oh and they blind other road users thus causing danger to you and them.

You cant compare standard lights to Xenons. I was gobsmacked by how good they are. Far better than standard headlights. FACT!!!

edde I had xenons fitted to my 2003 1.4 16v dynamique + from the factory and Ive got headlamp washers fitted to my bumper...looks nice

lol, every time i get in a car without xenons (even newer ones with decent lamps) i think dam these lights are total sh*te, non xenons will do if you have never had xenons but if youve had them youll never want to go back to anythin less than xenons

172loony you ever driven a Cup at night? If you have you will know there is no real need for him to spend 500£ to get them fitted they are just not worth it imho.

1 -Look im only stating the facts, I dont see how they can blind people as the are auto leveling.. although yes they are a lot brighter.

2 - If your happy with your lights then great, but I was only pointing out to the person that was thinking of changing what benifits he would see.

3 - Good for you, nice comeback

4 - Dont be so childish.

I wasnt keen on the xenons in my MK2 because:

1. The light was excellent, it just didnt shine far enough ahead.

2. People used to put their lights on full beam when mine were dipped. Pissed me off as I already couldnt see anything because of point 1.

Im happy with the dipped mk1 172 lights (although full beam does f**k all!)

neil82cup- no but have driven plenty of other cars without xenons at night (brand new beemers included) and felt the light was lacking compared to xenons, this is my opinion im entitled to it as are you to the opinion that xenons are not worth the cash

Point 2 is easy.. when you switch your full beam on they quickly get the message.

Maybe yours wasnt leveling right, I didnt notice a range problem with mine. Had a mk2 172 behind me last night and the xenons look really menacing in your rear view.. makes you want to get out of the way quickly.

On a side note, the time your really notice the xenons the most is when it has rained and the ground is wet, the tarmac used to suck away my headlight beam when the road was wet but the xenons just keep on light it up no problem.

i think the xenon lights look the dogs b****cks! they give you a lot more visibilty.they also make your car feel more posher if you know what i mean(a kick in the ribs for bmw drivers cos clios can also have posh lights like your £30,000 penis exstentions).

cuppy-to fit xenons would probably cost you about a £1000 in parts and then whatever ever labour you get charged by who does it.it may also affect your warranty, you would need to check.it can be done but do you like them that much to justify spending that amount of money.

To much work to fit them, I wouldnt bother.....but I love the way they light up police cars! gives you just enought time to slow down!;)

aye but it would be the only time you would be enjoying yourself and soiling your pants at the same time!

still like xenons(still on topic look)

u cant beat the way xenons flicker to life, then slowly change colour as they warm up.

what I found funny when I first got the car was the way the light instantly vanishes when u turn them off, not like the fade with normal lights.

BTW they look even betterer with white LED sidelamps :D
