172 lump in a 16v

i was just wondering if any one has attempted this,

i mean some of you have the williams/megane 2.0 thing going on, but what about a 172 conversion.

im just curious, im keeping my car as it is, i was just wondering if its been done, of any one has thought about it.

Or is it too much expense for not much more performance.

Yeah heard about the Lumop being too tall.

Plus if you get a decent running Willy Lump (150BHP standard). Cams, headwork, chip and sort the breathing out. Would be pushing 172 Power. Plus not a huge amount make the magical 172BHP.

Not sure how torque compares on the two lumps!!

This is where VW have an advantage, you can put a Mk4 lump in a MkI no problem what so ever. All the mounting positions are the same, excluding the stupidly big engines. I have a friend or two with VR6 MkI and and MkII golfs. These things are rapid, 55 MPH in first gear! And then theres the G60 lumps and the new MK4 Turbo jobbies!!! Such a choice... and what about Renault, exactly, bugger all! A 2 Litre conversion is you can source the engine!!!

b****cks really!

Whinge!

Complain to Ren that you cant shove one of their V6s into a R5.......

Oh, and BTW, you can fit the new turbo F4Rs into any of the new cars, all clios use the same basic mountings.

ok say a gtt with 150+ horses if it makes you happy!
much happier :D u could prob get close, but with 150bhp u would prob make 180 pound o torque at 2.5k ish which would whoop a 150bhp N/A engine which wont develop the peak power till far higher up the rev range ;)

But can you fit the turbo gear to the 172 engine?
