172 manifold question

Hi guys sorry to be a scrooge and not renew my membership, got someone coming to look at my 172 tonight.

They just called and asked if the 172 manifold is 4-1 or 4-2-1.

He said the 182 has 4-2-1 and thats what gives it the extra 10hp??

Can someone confirm if the 172 came out the factory with a 4-1 or 4-2-1

182 Manifold will not give 10bhp as proved on my 172 cup at TDF on Saturday :rasp:

172 is 4-1. The 182 also had a better intake manifold to give it the extra 2.5 hp btw

Four major differences between 172 and 182 - Manifold (182 4-2-1, 172 4-1), Cat (182 is better), Inlets (182 are normally RS stamped), and Engine Map

The 182 manifold WITH decat is relatively worthwhile (i did it and wrote the guide on here). But only if you can do the work yourself. Otherwise it's too expensive for the gains.
