172 Mk2 Brakes

Ive had this happen i think. Usually when the cars been left outside for a few days without being run... but thinking about it, could be the handbrake sticking on??

The handbrake tends to stick if its parked up overnight after being driven on wet roads. But thats normal on cars with rear disks.

Yes, but aslong as they let go when you start driving you will be fine, you shouldnt leave the handbrake on anyway if you are leaving the car for a long period of time (6 months) so you shouldnt have any problems pulling away each morning, you just get a nice clunk... and sometimes when you press the brake pedal the first time you can hear the rust being knocked off by the brake pads.

the pads stick to the discs when they get wet. when you release the handbrake the noise is the pads coming unstuck as you pull off. this seems normal for the 172 but it is a bit crap i must admit. ive had other cars in the past with rear discs/pads and theyve never done it. bloody renaults im sure if they modified the pad compound they could prevent this.
