172 Not Starting, unless press gas

Quick question for a mate..

172 clio , 52/53ish plate.

Wont start tuning the key over , unless the gas pedal is pressed - then it will start... does anyone know any common faults or anything that should be checked out before sending it off to a garage first.

im having the same problem mate and its gettin on my nerves
