Right after a big hard LONG think i need to get a more up to date car, looked at a Willy 3 last night, but i think i should get a more reliable car.........maybe a bad move, sooooooooo

gonna be driving 30 miles a day 5days a week so 150 miles a week how much should that cost in petrol in a 172, roughly, mainly 60ish all the way, bit of traffic too

currently costs around 25-30 in my current car, which ive had for 4yrs i think, any help much appreciated!

bloody hell mate, you must be leakin petrol:) . 150 miles is about £15, thats about what i get anyway.

  mini cooper (RIP 172)
yer seem a bit steap;) i get 150 miles from £20ish and i dont drive like a granny, all the time:eek:

Assuming 35mpg and 97p a liter it would cost you. £18.89
If you get 40mpg at 97 a liter then its £16.50

I'd say use about 35mpg if your going to put your foot down a bit

Whta about a diesel though as they'll get say 55mpg vs 35ish (clio 1.2 petrol vs similar hp diesel driven the same) so its £12 a week instead on fuel.

  RB 200 Cup!
i average 36mpg at 102.9 a litre.

costs me a fortune cos i cant stop myself putting my foot down! lol

  Clio MK 4
£40 for me gets 260 miles. Which is shite and i hardly floor it. dont know why so expensive.

I know 80 miles on motorway is about 10-15 quid for me

i have 172 ff

thinking about it i only put that in a week and use it weekends too so maybe ive over estimated it!just thought a 172 would leak it out, but thats cool!

really dont want a diesel not a fan to be honest

cheers for the comments just gotta find one now!

The other week i got 365 miles to a tank of optimax. Averaged 37 ish MPG. Which i think is good for a 172. If you floor it alot though expect high 20's. Once you had it a while you will end up driving it like a 1.2 anyway. It's just nice to have the power there

  Monblue bombay badboy!
mines been running about 30mpg lately gone really crap but just been serviced new full filter etc and gone back to standard airbox so might improve:S

  Mk1 1.2 & Mk1 172
I used to have a Cup and I got 35 to 42 mpg. But £30 for 150miles!!!!! Crikey, you've got a leak! I get 350miles out of £40 in my 12 year old 2.5 litre, 1.8tonne BMW (around town)!!!

  A4 Avant
I get about 25mpg on my commute to work with heavy traffic. I reguarly see 40mpg on the motorway at 70ish.

  Hyundai i40
use about fiver a day at 107p a litre

OUCH!!! thats harsh!!

harsh but this has always been the way.......wen england were striking a few years back we were paying more than wot they were striking for at the time.

i think that iom gov take a cut and the transporting over here puts the costs up a bit.

but i love the 172 so wudnt change the car for the world atm well untill it gets to 115p!! lol

He he!
i`m getting my 172 tomorrow, when i had my Alfa 2.0 i used to average about 27 so 36 will be an economy car for me, less weight and over 20 bhp more than the mp too!

ha ha i`m so happy! :)

edit: mp = money pit!

i put in about £45 every 10 - 11 days can get about 370miles out of that thats at 98p a litre

£1.00 per litre is £4.50 per gallon, £45.00 = 10 gallons, 370 miles is 37 to the gallon.
It`s only approximate but on your figures it works great.
the figures you quoted made it easy to work out.

.....rah, the 172 is a bloody economy car, my wifes old zetec escort 1.8 never did 37 mpg!
:)
