Just recently sold my phase 2 172 silly i no... And i want another. But looking at a phase 1. Just wanting to no what the common faults are with them. And if there costly to fix
 
Same faults as a ph2 in general.
If its been properly looked after, no reason why it should fail. Had my ph1 nearly a year and its cost me an MOT (pass) and a few tyres. Extremely reliable.
Service history is important though along with the dreaded belt change at every 5 years or 72k.
