172 power upgrade

ive recently acquired a ph2 172 cup as a wee winter project, ive had hundreds of cars over the years but this is my first Clio, I'm also known to be a sucker for wanting more power out of vehicles, so naturally im looking to get more power out of the 172, so are white stripes worth 50bhp per stripe or is it 50bhp per pair? also does width matter? are thinner ones only worth 25bhp? also does placement affect power gains i.e. off to one side or down the centre?
