172 service

  172 Clio Sport Ph1&2
Can anyone help, I've had my 172 for about a year and its now due a service. I want to get more hands on with the car and thought about doing the service myself, it only needs an interim but don't know whether this is the best time to start.

Does anyone know what plugs, oil and filter I'd need? Or is it just best to put it in the garage?

It's done 90k, but to be honest looking through the history I have there is no record of anything other than disks and pads being changed, which I did towards the end of last year.

I think on second thoughts I need to get a full service and belts changed. Peace of mind.

Although, can you tell if they need doing by looking at them?

Not really, well you can but its hard to tell, as on some 172s they are due their 2nd cambelt change this year. If it was mine and it was clear nothing had been done and your going to continue keeping the car for a while id do everything, cambelt kit, aux belt kit, oil, oil filter, fuel filter (if ph1), air filter, cabin filter, coolant flush, brake bleed, gearbox oil, and spark plugs.

I love the car and I'm not planning on getting rid of it in the near future, so I think I will look into having all of the above changed.

Any ideas on a price? Is it wishful thinking about £350 for all the belts:S

Depends whether it's a cup or not, but there's one or two places that do the belts and tensioners on here for about £400, a Renault dealer will charge you a LOT more and it really should be a Renault specialist you take it to.

Ye I've noticed everyone says to use a specialist. Suppose it makes sense really.

Its not a cup. I'm guessing this means its a bit cheaper?
