172 shaking over 65 mph

  clio 172 cup
Hi, i have a 2003 172 cup. When i hit approximately 65 mph, the steering wheel shakes and i can feel a vibration on the accelerator pedal. The vibration happens randomly though and comes and goes at different speeds between 65-80. I can be driving along at 70 mph then all of a sudden the vibration kicks in. Ive had all four wheels balanced and even swapped the front and the back wheels around. Ive had the engine mounts checked, but everything seems to be ok!! Does anyone have any idea???
thanks

tracking?

how long have you had the car? did it just start happening for "no reason", or has anything else occured that may have influenced it?

  Not a 320d
Take it into a garage and ask them to look for play in your anti roll bar links (if 172's have them) and your ball joints. They should geta crowbar out and have a wiggle.

Yes I agree with sideways danny as he identified this problem when I had it, it is the bearings in the driver side drive shaft. There are three inside it and one of mine was nackered. Its difficult to tell without swapping it out for another i believe !
