172 spinning?

  audi a6 3.0tdi
has anyone else had an experience of the 172 spinning unexpectedly with no warning? was driving the other night (when it was raining) went round a tight left hander at an average speed and the next second i was facing the other way. was near a petrol station so it could have been diesel but i'm a little bit wary now don't want it happening again. luckily i didn't hit anything :( has this happened to anyone else?

i would say more likely oil / petrol on the road, just go out next time its raining and experiment on a different roundabout where their is no traffic

Yeh, must have been something to do with the road conditions, cars don't just spin for no reason. Maybe you accelerated just as the back wheels were coming round? The short wheelbase of the Clio probably doesn't help though!

Would'nt that pull you out of the slide? (if you applied opposite lock of course!). Braking just as the back wheels slipped might send you round pretty quick

If the front wheels are over/ past the spill, and are not in a straight line (as I presume not if entering a roundabout) if you accelerate at this point the back wheels can skid round.... can't really remember why this happens, not the techiest of drivers. Short answer- don't speed in the wet!:approve:
