172 Sump Guard

Wanting to see what sump guards people are using to get inspiration on making/buying one for my car.

I've seen the PMS and OMP ones but they're both very expensive for what it is really.. so avoiding those and will probably end up making one. Just curious what and how other people have made theirs!

Pictures would be most appreciated ?

I used 8mm alloy and used the captive nuts that were on the subframe and also welded a few tabs on the subframe with nuts on for the front. Admitted this is a Twingo 133 but I think it's pretty similar underneath.

Pms on mine. Quick and easy to fit. Yeah it’s expensive but it makes life easier.
That’s it on the floor covered it bits of gearbox ?

PMS for me too. You will need to make a bridging unit to go over the gearbox which you can see in the pic above as part of the box is lower than the subframe.

Is that yet another genuine Valeo clutch of questionable origin, sawing it`s way through another bell housing?

Mine was more for another function than a sump guard as such tbf, but it was strong with the bracing attached to it.

@Hazza462 here’s what I made for mine - as you can see it had other functions incorporated.

Renault made one, that's what I have on mine. I think they used it on the cup racers.

Think it was only about 100 quid. I ordered mine from the local dealer.

I think it'd be fine for anything except gravel rallying.

Yes but it’s not the strongest sumpguard in the world. It does have some flex in it when jacking
