172 with previous rebuld due to cambelt failure.

I know it depends on the level of repair, but do these car ever recover from cambelt failures, or do they then have persistent problems.

Would a car with previous failure be acceptable to buy if repaired and if it pulled well and drove as it should?

Would you expect a reduction in such a car on the price?

As you've already said yourself mate, it's all dependant on the level of repair. I'd have no issues buying a car that's previously had belt failure either, in fact I'd feel pleased that the receipts for the work were there to see, or that the failure was mentioned by the seller. Bit of a double edged sword though as well - because it also says to me that the car has possibly not been maintained correctly.

If in doubt - walkaway.
