172 with superchip

Ive got a 172 and ive contacted superchips and they said my bhp increase will be 10bhp. Will my 172 be quicker then a 172 cup after this is fitted?

Standard
172 = 0-60mph is 7.1 secs

172 Cup = 0-60 is 6.8 secs

172 + 10 = 182

Cups are similar pace to fully fat 182's I'm told

But that doesn't really answer your question!

no not really coz it wont make 10 bhp, u need to loose wieght, my 172 beats cups, just hammer it

I got bang on 5bhp and between 12 and 14 lb/ft. I think the torque is more important than the bhp especially from 2.5k upwards where my gain kicks in.

why worry about bhp, you want torque, evn though its a by product of bhp thats what pulls the car

Ive just been on bbperformancetuning.com and had a look.

Is this more beneficial then a superchip?

TBH mate, you are better off with an SMT6 or Dastek piggyback ECU which is set up specifically to suit your car. Off the shelf chips are good if you plan on doing nothing else but each time you change a variable, you are not extracting the maximum from your vehicle. The like of the SMT6 and Dastek are tuned on a rolling road and the map is tailored to your car. They cost slightly more but the gains are higher and can be re-mapped each time you add another mod.
