172 Xenon problem???

My left Xenon headlight is working today. Is the bulb blown away? I hear there is a transformer or condenser there that can blown too??? Sorry my Eng is not very good, I might use some wrong word.

But, what is the most common reason that makes the light not working??? Bulb? Can i change the bulb? Is that hard to do?? Xenon light for me is something totally different.

same thing happened to me , eith a looses connection , or you need a new ballast unit. I needed a new ballast unit, got it done under warranty will cost about £150 if you have no warranty.

My left xenon has gone on the blink too. It sparks up but doesn't saty lit. Any idea what this would be??

Not that it helps much, but my driver's side xenon did the same - flickered/sparked up but then went out. It sorted itself after a couple of days and has been fine since...

3 things, either;
1 - Xenon lamp, quite expensive from renault (£100++) or £60 - £90 from others

2 - Starter unit that connects to the Xenon lamp, no idea on price tho

3 - Xenon ballast, which ultimately powers everything, again pricey from Renault (£130++)

For either lamp, starter or ballast, can we DIY??? Is that hard to do or just the same as changing the bulb??? Is there any aftermarket parts that can fit because Xenon (HID) is much cheaper now.

The lamp is the bulb, so I guess it would be easy to see if that had blown? Maybe with the starter pack and ballast you could swap them over from the working unit to see which part it is.

you can DIY any part of it, nothings technical although as far as I know only the lamp is available as an aftermarket job. The Ballast and Starter would probably have to come from Renault.

Yep they do mate tho coupled with french electronics cant be a good thing lol

is the whole unit loose matey...
i.e can you put your fingers underneath the xennon and pull it up
