172 xenon's not working!!!

My mate has just bought a 172 and the xenon bulbs are not working on auto or manual setting? Sidelights and full beam are fine, just the xenon's that are off.
What is the most likely problem? Blown bulb, blown fuse, ballast?
Haven't had time to try fault finding yet as doing that tonight, any ideas?

unusual for them both to stop! I'd try the fuse first off and take it from there

have a look at the relays behind/under the glovebox in the passenger kickwell as its a common fault restless passengers to dislodge the one which controls the headlights.
