172ph1 High idle @1500rpm

Please can somebody advise?

I found today that the idle on my 172 ph1 sticks at 1500rpm which is unusually high. It's not done this before and I'm wondering what it might be?

It'll be the throttle body give it a good clean,and re-grease the spindle/spring.

Thank you. Strangely I went out in it before and it was normal again but my wife commented that it's done it to her before.

I did consider the throttle cable so i'll check that and the throttle bodies

They get gunked up and stick, usely a tap on the throttle pedal will clear it but a good clean and re-grease should solve it for a while. I went though 3 throttle bodies on my old ph1.

throttle spindles get worn, and also contaminated with grit. thorough cleaning and re greasing usually improves the situation to almost perfect. The idle control valve is also a bit inconsistent, clean and lubricate.
