182 alarm dead

Hi all.
Before I get my head ripped off, I've spent the last hour searching around for a reasonable answer to my problem and a further 45 minutes playing with the Clio on the drive but I've yet to find anything that genuinely helps me, so I'm asking the community for help! :)

Problem is in the title. I've got a 182, had it around 4 months now and I love it to bits.
The alarm used to work no problem however now it does absolutely nothing. The red light next to the gear stick doesn't flash either and nor does it make any of the warning sounds when you leave doors open etc. I effectively have no alarm.
I've checked all my fuses and I've even tried disconnecting the battery for a few minutes too and still nothing.

I noticed the problem a week or so ago but wasn't phased by it but a girl I used to work with recently had her car pinched (in my defense it was her fault) but it's got me worried.

Only thing I can think of - a month after owning the car, I fitted an aux cable to the back of my headunit (it's an after market Apline thing) and in the processes I shamefully popped a fuse.
I read somewhere that the alarm cables go somewhere behind the stereo and maybe I've disconnected something. I hope I'm wrong because it's spaghetti junction behind there. I'm now wondering if it's actually been dead since then and I've just been too deep in my own little world to notice it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and a prod in the right direction would be awesome so when I start pulling the car apart on my next day off, I know what to look for!

Cheers,
Mike.

Sorry a pretty unhelpful answer but why are you bothered about a broken alarm they are a pain in the ass. Took the siren out of mine when i did the ac delete usually went off when I jacked it up without unlocking it but I guess I live in a low risk area so wont get broken into ot very unlikely

My area is pretty safe too to be honest, but all the same all it takes is a curious, lost pikey and I'm without my 182.
I'm also kinda fussy. I'm meticulous in nature and like all my things tidy and working. :)

However if you've tinkered with it, would you be able to give me an insight into where all the cables run and the best way of attacking this problem? :)

Still got an immobiliser no pikey will be able to deactivate that. You need to remove the scuttle/wipers they are a cunit to remove with out a tool. Then remove wiper mech. The siren is under there. The wiring goes through to the dashboard which youd have to remove also. Bit of a ballache if you havnt done this before!

Update:

Problem fixed.
Read a guide in work quickly about how to remove the dash. I had to start there as that's the only time anything ever went wrong when doing work on the car.
Finished work at 8, got home and started on the car by 8:30 and had the battery disconnected, dashboard off, fixed the problem and had it totally reassembled by 9:45.
It's serious what you hear about these French cars, the bits really are snap off, snap on.
Upshot of all this is if/when the bulbs behind my clock go, I know how to get to it all. Might swap them out for some blue ones now. :)

The orange connector to the central locking button had come off during my war with getting the head unit back in 2 months back and that broke the whole system.
Also explains why the button stopped working and I popped the fuse. Shamefully I only spotted the button wasn't working a week or so ago when I stopped to pick up passengers.

No matter, all good now. One for the r****d mistakes.

Thank you for the help anyway!
