182 breaking prob

Guys ive just got back from my holidays and had left the 182 in the drive for a little over 2 weeks. When i got back took a quick look at the car before setting off and noticed quite a bit of corrosion on the brake discs. No problem i thought and took the car for a spin. Brakes were crap as expected to start with but got better, anyway braking on the motorway today i can hear a rumbling noise coming from the back brakes, i think. Im pretty sure they are not stopping me as well as before, had a look at the rear discs and one in particular looks pretty deeply scoured (scratched)!

Surely not driving my car for 2 weeks has knackered my breaks?!!?!

90% of breaking is done by the front isnt it? or is that just on cars with drums at rears.

take a pic mate if poss.

Sounds to me like something has got jammed in between the disk and the pads? The surface rust alone shouldnt cause deep scouring?!?

I know when I got my car it took a couple of weeks before the disks were completely clear of rust from where it had been in a compound for ages. But there were no deep scratches or funny noises.

What looks deep to you might not really be deep though so yeah pics are required.

By the way my rears seem to do more braking than the front if the amount of dust is any indication! The rears are always far more dirty and dusty?!?!?!

If your rears create more brake dust then the front then summits not rate, rears do a bit of braking on 172/182 but nowhere near as much as the fronts!

Whip the rear pads off if you can hear scraping, probably got a stone jammed in there or grit, just need cleaning, easy enough job.
