182 Cams

  Clio 182
Do I have to change the manifold also? I mean what can I do more?
Possible to tell me diffrence between them :p

  C63 AMG, F430 & 172
lol, how much do you have to spend? Cams plus fitting would be around £1000 + VAT

With the above mods inc 428s you will see about mid 190 HP, you could fit ITBs for around £4000 (inc mapping) That would see you 220hp

  172 - 249bhp @ the wheels
cams that need a standalone will usually foul the pistons, so you'd most likely need to pocket them, by which time you may as well stick some forged ones in it.

  ITB'd MK1
Hmmmmm, might have to invest :)

are the 420's the same profile as standard? Any cams that do need a standalone?

Cheers mate.

420s are optimised standard spec, they only really exist for racing classes that require stock cams.

421s will cause problems with idle, on a ph1 172 this can be bodged round but with drive by wire throttle it will never idle right

428s will go straight in any 172/182

anything non standard needs mapping to get the best from it

there are three well known options to run on the standard engine management with a remap

CAT CAMS 428's
schricks
collumbo & barrini (spelling?)

cant go wrong with any tbh all with give similar results (on ave 12bhp peak and around 20bhp more above 7200 through to 7800rpm)

Hi K-qaed - we'd recommend 5502428's for use with the stock remapped ECU. They represent the limits of the lift and duration that are achievable with the 172/182 before the ECU struggles to control the idle. Even so, you'll have a very quick Clio post install!

Is there something will give more than this 428?
What do I have change also?
You know since gonna change, why not go for the big one and thats it.
Which one can I go for, and what do I have to change?

Think about stand alone fuel management. You should see better results with same setup.
I run 421 cams, I've done it against every voice on this forum ;)
I do not regret it :) still working on the project thou.
Idle is in fact the issue (1250rpm on standard ECU). no problem in day to day driving (that's what I was afraid most) but than again mine is ph1 with cable throttle.
My advice do not go past the 428 point :) Unless You're up to what's coming;) and only with SA ECU

To go for wilder cams that schrick or 428's you will need a stand alone aftermarket ECU as the standard management is not capaple of running the idle with them. This will cost around 1k. On top of that to get the most out of the cams you shoulod fit high compression pistons too £££

Better off sticking to the "drop straight in" cams and have the car mapped to suit :)

Thats right Tooney.

k qaed, by the time You'll finish setting up anything wilder that 428 You'll start looking for a turbo engine to swap ;) Like in my case :D sweet megane r26 engine just waits till I gather around enough money :D

  Clio 182
I think i will go for that then ..
Later on, what can we do? any suggestions? just to keep in mind now for later on ;)

Super 2000 type inlet manifold kit :)

The plenum is in fabrication today BTW so not long to wait now until you get to see pics ;-)

Cheers
