182 Cup to appear in Autocar magazine feature

Afternoon all,

Forgive the blatant corporate intrustion: I've been given permission to post this by da management.

Autocar magazine is looking for an owner of a Renault Clio 182 Cup for inclusion in a 'greatest used cars' special issue. We'll be shooting on 7th Jan, in and around Bruntingthorpe airfield in Leicestershire. We will need to drive your car, but will arrange insurance etc, and nothing dangerous will be done. It's just so that we can get an impression of it.

Besides appearing in the mag, you'll get lunch thrown in, reasonable expenses covered, copies of the pictures we take, and a free copy of the mag that your car appears in.

So if you've got a 182 Cup, you're free on the day in question and you'd like to see your car in Autocar, can you get in touch? Email me directly and I'll come back over Xmas.

WIth many thanks,

Matt Saunders,

Does it have to be exactly standard apart from being a cup?

This has been a stumbling block before.

It was yeah, but...
I'm probs speaking out of turn here, why not just get a proper cup to test ? (a 172 cup) Or standard cup packed 182 ? As tbh the 182 cup only shed 20kg over the normal car.

I agree, you need to be reviewing a 182 with Cup packs or a 172 Cup.

Would happily put mine in there, but it isn't completely standard :(

Try pm'ing white striped bandit, he's got a 182 Cup in Racing Blue. It's standard apart from the wheels but think he's still got the original wheels.

Roffle at the classic CS anti-Cup muppetry. A 182Cup is a fake Cup etc etc.

Jacka-f**king-nory. They want a 182Cup.

I'd put mine up but it's a mess. No fogs or liners, caked in dirt, and it needs some work doing before it's next outed on a track

i think it would be great to see a complete standard one in the mag, it would be good for the readers to see there are still some minters about.

so basically hand your 182 over to a stranger who will give paid alot on money for playing with your car while we stand out in the cold having free lunch. lol

I wasn't worried about that at all,no different than doing a track day really,it's just when they tell you that they will replace tyres etc then when you hand them the bill for two PE2's they take 2 months to pay up after lots of hassle(because it wasn't in writing),it's just made me wary of doing it again.

Just get everything sorted before you start and don't be afraid to say "no you can't use it then".It's all to easy to get carried away with the day.

the car is the star of the show,so the owner shud get paid well, why not its only 1 day. Are they atleast paying for time off work. Like Tony said its like a trackday, so when u get home u mite find the need of changing tyres, brakes, small small service, and anything else that may go wrong. Their happy to insure the car for their benefits, but not maintain it.

As far as I know,no you do not get paid, you do not get petrol money and you do not get paid for time off work.
